Impact of having JEE/NEET twice a year !

The overall impact of having JEE Main/NEET twice a year is going to be positive for the students community. Even though it is not yet clear on how the standardisation/normalisation will be done for the score of two attempts, still the choice lies with the student to attempt both or either of the two. The student can always improve in the next attempt, without dropping a year, which is a boon for them.

Since JEE/NEET will be conducted by NTA now, i.e. 2019 onwards, the papers are going to be in Online mode only. Till now, JEE Main was being held in both online and offline modes, and NEET was totally offline. So, there was always a doubt in the mind of students, on which mode to opt for, leaving a scope for confusion about the toughness of the paper under both the modes. Now there will be respite from this dillema as all papers will be conducted online only.

On the other side, it may lead to more complication and stress, especially for the first attempt, since the time would be less. It may not allow the students to have a strong preparation level. Also, two opportunities in the same session may somewhere develop a laid back attitude in many candidates.

Moreover spreading the paper over 5 days and giving the student the option to choose a convenient date, may also lead to change in the difficulty level of the various question papers to be made.

Still, on the whole, it seems to be a good move and if implemented well, it is going to bring down the stress levels of the students.
